Stairlifts

Ever since I saw the Gremlins movie back in the 80s, I've wanted a stairlift. For those of you unfamiliar with the movie, an older lady uses her stairlift to attempt to go upstairs but the Gremlins messed with it. It ends up going faster than it should and the lady gets tossed out a window at the top of the stairs. I'm not sure why but that made stairlifts look like so much fun.

When my mother moved into her new house about six years ago, my grandmother was living with her and they looked into buying a stairlift to help my grandmother go up and down the stairs. Unfortunately, my mother's staircase was not wide enough to allow a stairlift to be installed. It would have been extremely helpful to my grandmother since she was at the age when stairs really become difficult to climb.

This has not suppressed my desire to ride up and down my stairs as fast as I can on a chair. I could have my very own amusement park ride in my house! Though it would probably lose the novelty factor pretty quickly. Reality always has to get in the way of my fun. ;)
